Abstract

To overcome the limitations of lifelong hormone replacement therapy for post-operative hypothyroidism, we propose autologous thyroid transplantation into the Cell Pouch™ (CP), an implantable and retrievable medical device that supports vascularization and a homeostatic environment for cell grafting.
